LUMBAN, Laguna – An alleged member of a drug group was killed Thursday morning when he allegedly shot it out with an anti-narcotics cop during an entrapment operation that also resulted in the confiscation of nearly P500,000 worth of shabu on Lumban-Caliraya Road in Barangay Lewin, this town.
Police identified the slain suspect as Jeffrey Brosas, alias Bobby and Pavy, a resident Barangay Oogong, Sta. Cruz, Laguna. He was a new member of Macmac Punio, a drug group that operates in Laguna.
Based on police report, a Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) officer, who acted as a poseur-buyer, bought from the suspect a sachet of suspected shabu.
However, the suspect sensed later that he was transacting with a lawman, prompting him to draw his short firearm from his sling bag and fired upon the police officer. The cop returned fire, killing the suspect.
Police seized from the suspect some 75 grams of shabu with an estimated value of P460,000.
The Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO)-Laguna Provincial Crime Laboratory Office recovered from the crime scene a .45-caliber pistol with a magazine, three live ammunition, three fired cartridge cases for .45-caliber gun, three fired cartridge cases for caliber 9mm, and 14 sachets of suspected shabu.
