LEA Salonga’s recent online performance, part of the “Bayanihan, Musikahan” concert series, which aims to raise funds for frontline workers as with the urban poor, generated over P1 million in donations, something that amazed the Broadway star.
She maintained, “There’s no such thing as too small of a contribution or a donation… when you pool all of these resources together, it becomes one whole big thing and so many people will be able to get the help that they need, the protection that they need.”
Singing in a room inside her home, Lea performed “Gaman” from “Allegiance,” and “The Human Heart” from “Once on this Island.”
She also sang OPM classics including “Nais Ko,” “Bakit Labis Kitang Mahal,” “Sana Maulit Muli.”
So far, “Bayanihan, Musikahan” has reportedly raised P22.3 million since its launch on March 18.
