Top favorite Jaguar installed himself as one of the favorites for the Philracom Triple Crown by winning the 2022 Cool Summer Farm Juvenile Stakes at the Metro Manila Turf Club in Malvar, Batangas.
Owned by Cong. Mikey Arroyo, the son of Dance City out of Delta Gold was neatly positioned in second behind second choice Secretary for most of the 1400-meter journey.
But when he was asked for more, the Jess Pabilic-trained Jagura made his move in the final 150 meters before blowing past Secretary for the win.
The victory was worth P600,000 for the winning connections while Secretary had to settle for the runner-up prize of P225,000. Gintong Hari (Hakassan out of Sungold Sally) finished third worth P125,000 and Deus Ex Machina (Hakassan-RubyRedhead) fourth (P50,000).
Jaguar clocked an impressive time of 1:25.6 (13′-22′-23-26′).
In a post awarding interview, Cool Summer Farms top honcho Joseph Dyhengco thanked the bayang karerista for their undying support for the horseracing industry. “In behalf of the Philracom, I would like to thank Cool Summer Farms and Mr. Joseph Dyhengco for his dedication in holding this annual event, much like his Cool Summer Farm Racefest,” Philracom Chairman Reli de Leon said.
Incidentally, the last racing day of the year registered sales of more than P21-million which translates to a gross prize of more than P200,000 (inclusive of the added P100-thousand) to the winning connections.
