Fritz “Kid Tornado” Biagtan spent a considerable amount of time visualizing what he intended to do when he made his ONE Championship debut.
Safe to say, he’s satisfied with the results.
Biagtan announced his arrival in The Home of Martial Arts when he stopped Nurmukhammad Adamkhonov in the third round of their flyweight MMA bout at ONE Friday Fights 5 on Feb. 17 inside Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
“I feel like I’m still dreaming. It was sleepless nights before this fight. I was always visualizing my game plan, the things I [wanted] to do [even while] sleeping. Sometimes, I didn’t even know if I was sleeping or fighting while I’m in my bed,” Biagtan said.
“I was really motivated for this fight. Of course the bonuses are an added motivation, but the most important thing to do is to win and show the world that I have what it takes to compete and [that ONE] wasn’t wrong in signing me.”
From the start, the 27-year-old looked a step ahead of his Uzbek counterpart, often beating Adamkhonov to the punch, hurting him early in the fight.
That prompted Adamkhonov on the back foot, throwing Biagtan off as he patiently looked for an opening.
The inactivity midway through the third round forced referee Mohamad Sulaiman to give both fighters a yellow card.
That infraction pushed “Kid Tornado” to look for a finish, and finish he did, dropping Adamkhonov with a beautiful left followed up with a right hook to end the match with seconds remaining.
