Petro Gazz defeated F2 Logistics in straight sets, 25-23, 25-13, 25-23 and kept its semifinal hopes alive in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference Thursday, March 2, at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
The Angels played like wounded tigers as they kept the Cargo Movers at bay with their air-tight defense to improve their record to 3-2.
MJ Phillips led the Angels with 13 points off nine attacks, two blocks and two aces to help Petro Gazz hand F2 its second defeat in six starts.
Three other players made their presence felt with Jonah Sabete also posting 13 points apart from eight receptions, while Aiza Maizo-Pontillas and Gretchel Soltones combined for 21 points.
It was Soltones and Phillips who delivered the telling blows after the game was knotted at 23-all in the third with the latter making a block on Elaine Kasilag.
Kianna Dy was the lone bright spot for F2 Logistics with 14 points.
Meanwhile, Cignal outlasted Choco Mucho in a marathon duel, 25-14, 25-11, 19-25, 17-25, 15-11.
The HD Spikers breezed through the first two sets but the Flying Titans rallied to force a deciding fifth set.
Five Cignal players scored in double figures with veteran spikers Rachel Daquis and Ces Molina leading the way with 17 points each.
Roselyn Doria and Glaudine Troncoso also had 15 points each, while Marivic Meneses added 10.
