Petron and F2 Logistics forged a rematch of last year’s championship duel after posting contrasting semifinal wins on Tuesday in the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference at the Muntinlupa Sports Center.
The Blaze Spikers blasted the Cignal HD Spikers, 25-21, 25-20, 25-16 while the Cargo Movers hacked out a pulsating 21-25, 25-15, 25-20, 19-25, 15-5 win over the Generika-Ayala Lifesavers.
Game 1 of their best-of-three finals series will be on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
It was the fifth straight time that Petron and F2 Logistics are facing each other for the crown with the Blaze Spikers winning the 2017 All-Filipino and 2018 Grand Prix conferences.
The Cargo Movers, for their part, prevailed in the 2017 Grand Prix and 2018 Invitational.
Bernadeth Pons starred for Petron with 14 points built on 12 kills and two aces while Mika Reyes and Aiza Pontillas added nine points each.
Ces Molina had six points with 16 digs even as Sis Rondina finished with five points despite playing only in the third set.
F2 Logistics went to Cha Cruz-Behag who responded with17 points built on 13 spikes, two blocks and two aces while Aby Maraño and Ara Galang added 16 and 15 points.
Mean while, University of Santo Tomas aims for a sweep of the preliminaries when it battles De La Salle-Dasmariñas in the Collegiate Grand Slam today at 7 p.m.
University of the East and Colegio San Agustin-Biñan meet at 4:15 p.m.
