CEBU CITY – The mayor of San Francisco town in Camotes Island, Cebu and his brother, who is also the town’s vice mayor, were arrested after unlicensed firearms were seized in their house yesterday morning.
Police raided the house of San Francisco Mayor Aly Arquillano and vice mayor Alfredo Arquillano Jr. based on a search warrant issued by Executive Judge Leopoldo Cañete of the Regional Trial Court Branch 60 in Barili town, Cebu.
Among the items seized from the house in Barangay Poblacion, San Francisco were an AR 15 rifle, a .45 caliber pistol, a fragmentation grenade, a caliber .22 rifle and assorted ammunition.
The raid, which was conducted past 6 a.m., was headed by Police Capt. Alejandro Batobalonos, chief of the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, and Police Capt. Nazarino Emia, deputy chief of the Provincial Intelligence Branch. (Calvin Cordova)
